We are an Australian based organization primarily concerned with denouncing human rights abuses in Chile. Our main focus in 2014 is the extradition of Adriana Rivas from Australia to face justice in Chile
We call on the Australian government to observe international protocols regarding people accused of committing crimes against humanity that are currently residing in Australia.
Adriana Rivas is a Chilean citizen who worked as an intelligence agent for the National Intelligence Directorate (DINA), Chile’s much-feared secret police during the Pinochet dictatorship. She was involved in kidnappings and played a major role in interrogating vicims during torture sessions in the Simon Bolivar barracks described as an extermination centre.
Adriana Rivas has lived in Sydney since 1978 and when she returned to Chile in 2006 was arrested and jailed for 3 months. She was released on bail to await trial and fled illegally into Argentina, then returning to Australia.
